With the water crisis in California it’s important for Home Buyers and Sellers to think of water usage and waste. If you are a Home Buyer you will want a professional home inspection done to ensure a property doesn't have any signs of water leaks, you may want to ask for a copy of a recent water bill for a property you are looking to buy as well to determine usage. Remember to be on the lookout for these water efficient items since CA Senate Bill 407 will make them a requirement for properties built before 1994 effective Jan 1, 2017:
- Toilets that use no more than 1.6 gallons per flush
- Shower heads with flow rates of no more than 2.5 gallons of water per minute
- Other interior fixtures that use less than 2.2 gallons of water per minute
Home Sellers make your properties water efficient before putting your property for sale. Go through the interior and exterior fixtures and look for any signs of leaks and fix them immediately this will help lower your current water usage and make your property more attractive to current Home Buyers.
